Local Loop North West
Introducing a credit clearing club in the Lancaster and Morecambe District and the North West.
Introducing a credit clearing club in the Lancaster and Morecambe District and the North West.
Local Loop North West is a business network that does one thing well.
Members submit headline info on the invoices they need to pay.
The system then finds 'loops' in the network, where amounts owing can be cancelled out, so no cash is used.
This has the potential to reduce debt, reduce risk, improve cashflow, and lower financing needs.
Simple to use, clear benefits
Loops in trade happen when outstanding invoices can be connected up in a circuit. This means a ‘set off’ can be made, where the lowest amount is simply accepted by all businesses in the loop as having been paid.
Each business now has lower debt, and no cash was used. Profit, balance sheet, everything else stays the same. There’s no trick - banks and big companies do this all the time to save cash. Local Loop makes it work for the rest of us.

The Lancaster Trial 2022
From October 2022, here in Lancaster, we’ll be launching a trial to see just how much local businesses could benefit from the Local Loop North West clearing club. This has been initiated by a partnership between Lancaster business networkers Michael Hallam (Ethical Small Traders Association) and Peter Walmsley (Walmsley Financial Planning), together with Mutual Credit Services and Informal Systems.
The aim of the trial is to determine which Lancaster businesses could benefit from membership, and monitor the network so we know when we’ve reached critical mass. Participating in the trial costs nothing, and we’ll provide you with regular estimates of the potential monthly benefit to your business of joining the club once the full service launches. Once we start clearing real invoices, there will be an approximately 0.5% fee on amounts cancelled, plus a small monthly membership charge. These will cover the club’s operating costs, including our support services.
We’re looking for one hundred or more businesses that trade with other local and regional firms. During the trial, each will give approximate figures for the purchases they make over a typical three month period, so that we can make clear predictions to each business about the benefits of being a Local Loop North West clearing club member.
Participating in the trial (Phase 1 in the Local Loop North West roadmap) costs nothing, and we’ll provide you with regular estimates of the potential monthly benefit to your business. The trial will work through a simple and convenient web-app (no need to download anything).
You join the trial via the app here, or register your interest on the Local Loop North West website.
